ITALIAN ROOTS
This is a work in progress, a never-ending project to play and have fun with. I share photos and memories from my life and careers: heritage, travel, hobbies, and other silly stuff.

First kiss
I remember not liking my neighbour, but dad thought it was a great idea to have us kiss, go figure.

Nonna & daughters.
I adored my Nonna, she took care of me while my parents went to work, up to age five. My young mum is on the right looking vibrant and happy. I wonder who took this photo, in Italy.

Young and hopeful.
They had left a war torn country with few prospects, sailing to an unknown land with barely any possessions only their dignity, hope and family values.

Large Italian family
My nonna brought over seven kids by herself from post WWII Italy. This immigrant family grew to include husbands, wives, kids and friends.

Bathing Beauties
I looked up to the gorgeous women in my family. Mum in the middle, they were all so different from each other, with beautiful individual characters.

Mum
Mum did not smoke, ever, but someone thought that it was cooler for her to have a cigarette for her portrait sitting. Dad?

Swimming pool.
My dad was an amatuer photographer. I love his framing, like this image of myself and little brother behind me at a local swimming pool.

Daddy's girl.
My dad and I were two peas in a pod. I inherited his genes for adventure, creativity and sensibility.

Suburban life.
My brother and I enjoying the large yard, with its organic garden and a garage for dad to make his Grappa, beer and tomato sauce.

Nature child
How cute am I! Hugging trees is still a thing for me.

Learning the Twist.
The dance craze of the 60's was the Twist, and my uncle Mario was the best at it. Here he's teaching me how to swivel my hips and feet.

The family unit.
The Zephyr was a pride and joy for the family, but mainly dad, and apparently a pipe too. That was short lived.

Cousins galore.
Six aunts and uncles, with two kids each, plus friends.

Young mum
When eating an apple looks fabulous. Her pose, style and fashion sense was always inspiring.

Grandpa/Nonno
It's hard to imagine our grandparents as young people, and in this photo he looks sensitive yet determined.

Grandma/Nonna
My grandmother was beautiful, kind and fierce.
